Integrate Microsoft CRM with LinkedIn!

We just recently put the finishing touches on a pretty excellent integration between Microsoft CRM and LinkedIn! Of course you know that LinkedIn has a huge business network, and lots of businesses use LinkedIn to find and develop new relationships at customer and prospect companies. Prior to this integration, you would have to do a lot of re-typing and ALT+TAB of windows to try and work with CRM and LinkedIn at the same time. However since LinkedIn offers a programming API, we decided to mash up their database with Microsoft CRM to really save ourselves our time!

From a high level, here are the key integration points:

  • Link Microsoft CRM accounts to LinkedIn companies
  • Link Microsoft CRM contacts to LinkedIn people
  • Import your LinkedIn connections into Microsoft CRM

This YouTube video shows the integration in action!

We have not officially released this integration to the world yet, as we’re still testing and evaluating it. If you’re interested in getting the Microsoft CRM - LinkedIn integration for your company, please contact us as we’re looking for a few external beta customers to help us with the testing.

  1. Hi Mike,

We looked at this, but the T&C of the LinkedIn API stops this level of integration, specifically Section 3.4.

Are you aware of this / How do you expect to get around this?

    Thnaks Karl.

Section 3.4: You may not copy, store or cache any Content returned or received through the APIs, including data about users, longer than the current usage session of the user for which it was obtained, except for the alphanumeric user IDs (Member Tokens) we provide you for identifying users and their authentication token (OAuth Token). You may store the Member Token and the OAuth Token until you cease using the APIs, until the LinkedIn user uninstalls your application or directs you to delete his information, or unless we terminate your use them for breach of these Terms. The restrictions of this Section do not apply to user profile data received through the APIs that a user explicitly permits you to collect and store, provided that you obtain the user’s consent through the technical and user-interface specifications provided by LinkedIn. However, user profile data does not include information about a user’s connections, which may not be copied or stored. You must , and delete all the data collected with the user’s consent either upon request by the user, when the user uninstalls your Application or closes his or her account with you. The restrictions of this Section also do not apply to “Independent Data,” which means data that users provide directly to you and that is separately entered, uploaded, or presented to you by the user of your Application.

  2. Hi Mike,
I like your integration, it looks really good. We might be interested in Beta testing but i am concerned a little about the comment above from Karl Newman. I wouldn't want to get into trouble with LinkedIn

    Thanks

  4. This is totally against the LinkedIn API terms of use in several areas. You are not allowed to store any information about a user's connections, and you're not allowed to create applications for distribution to 3rd parties.
