Outlook add-in problems after 3.0 upgrade
We upgraded our Microsoft Dynamics CRM system to 4.0 a while ago, but some users had problems loading the Outlook add-in. When we launched Outlook, we saw the following error:
You can see that in addition to not loading the Outlook client, the software duplicated the CRM and ExactTarget links in the menu bar. After some back and forth with Microsoft, we were able to fix this problem with the following steps:
- Close Microsoft Outlook
- Open Windows Explorer and browse to c:\documents and settings\user\application data\Microsoft\ (on Windows XP)
- Rename the folder named "Outlook" to "Outlookold"
- Restart your computer
- Launch Outlook and voila! You should be working again!
We expect that only people who had Microsoft CRM 3.0 for Outlook installed and then upgraded to 4.0 might see this problem. When installing Microsoft CRM 4.0 for Outlook on a clean computer, the install and loading works fine.

Hello,
We had the same problem with our upgrade. To fix it we just renamed the file "outcmd.dat" to "outcmd.datold" which is in the Outlook folder you mentioned. By only renaming this file, it allows you to retain your email address cache history when you send emails.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi
For CRM 4 the same error occurs if you have had an old client installed
Dont rename files - too much work....
Go to View - Toolbars - Customize - delete the defunct ones from the Tool bar - usually the ones on the right :)
Cheers

I encountered the same problem. I have implemented several outlook profiles. The bug has to do with the outlook profiles: The CRM configuration only works for one specific profile. The files in the subdirectory (default) c:\documents and settings\user\application data\Microsoft\Outlook store the information about profiles. I simply removed the whole directory. This worked!

For work with pst files advise try this tool-Recovery Toolbox for Outlook,it helped me many times, also as far as i know program is free, soft can help to extract all files with *.eml, *.vcf and *.txt extensions from *.ost file, when you cannot access your mail account, stored on Microsoft Exchange Server, will quickly scan all hard drives and find it. If current user has only one profile and its data is stored in a *.pst file, the path will be automatically displayed in the dialog box,can convert the data to a file with *.pst extension, that can be opened with any mail client, when cannot view Outlook emails.

Most of the problems in Microsoft Outlook is due to the corruption of the PST file. You need to repair the corrupted PSt file to restore Microsoft Outlook. Find more question & answers here http://www.repairpst.info/

There is good tool, which i usually use next software-software tool read view .pst file, because as far as i know it is free, and utiltiy help you with your mailbox recovery of Microsoft Outlook, when it is corrupted or lost, can restore mail server after a failure, they will do it, otherwise, all mailboxes may be lost, keeps a replica of user's mailbox on your HDD, users usually misknow this fact, but it is very important and gives a chance to recover your data, can help you to retrieve your data from a file with *.ost extension, that is stored on your hard drive, can process files with *.ost and *.pst extensions and recover data, that was considered to be lost.
