Has IE been crashing for you in CRM lately?

I noticed in the past few days that my Internet Explorer window has crashed every now and again when I am working within Microsoft CRM. Jim noticed the same behavior and blamed the recent Windows security updates, but I was skeptical of his assessment. (just because I am skeptical by nature)

However after seeing this story on ZDNet, it turns out I might owe Jim an apology! Microsoft support article #923762 explains that Internet Explorer unexpectedly exits when you view a Web site that uses the HTTP 1.1 protocol and compression on machines with Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and security update #918899. I am pretty confident that the recent problems with Internet Explorer and CRM we've been experiencing are related to this issue.

The good news is that there is a hotfix available to solve this problem, but you have to contact Microsoft support to obtain it. Once we get the hotfix from Microsoft, we'll let you know if it solves the problem

  1. Are you aware of this happening in IE6 SP2 as well? CRM is crashing for me in the advanced find. Particularly when I try to group conditions in an OR or AND and one of the conditions uses a Related Object.

  2. We are experiencing the same issue here as well, XP SP2 IE 6 with all updates. I tried the suggested work around from MS to get us by till patch is released, however that didn't seem to work. If you guys hear more on this for SP 2 please post...I have many users now getting very frustrated.

  3. We've seen problems with IE 6 SP2 too. In the short-term you can just uninstall the single Windows Update that causes this issue. We explain how here:

  4. I found that my IE (Windows 2003 Server R2) was crashing using CRM but the solution was slightly different to the HTTP 1.1 issue. Take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923996/ and see if this helps to solve your issues?

  5. Uninstalling the security roll-up for IE 6 SP1 (KB918899) in a large corporation is simply not an option. Removing it potentially breaks any applications installed after KB918899.

Did Microsoft's hotfix solve the problem?

  7. I too have noticed in the past few days that my Internet Explorer window has crashed every now and again when I am working within our own Education & Training CRM.
